Texas faces a myriad of crises, including housing, immigration, and the weather.
So, not surprisingly, Texas Senator Ted Cruz start an investigation to Bud Light.
Social conservatives across the country continue to take notice of Bud Light’s partnership with influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Mulvaney is a 26-year-old transgender activist whose public presence has shaken the Far Right’s perception of reality.
The Mulvaney partnership led to right-wing calls to boycott Bud Light, which impacted the sales of parent company Anheuser-Busch. The latter reported a 23% year-over-year decline in sales in the last week of April. CBS news report.
With Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Cruz sent a letter I asked the Beer Association, the beer industry regulator, whether the partnership between Anheuser-Busch and Mulvaney “violates the Beer Association’s guidelines prohibiting marketing to minors.”
“The Beer Association must investigate whether your company violates the Beer Association’s Advertising and Marketing Code and Purchasing Guidelines, which prohibit marketing to individuals under the legal drinking age,” the letter said. “Mulvaney’s audience skews significantly younger than the legal drinking age,” it claims. ”
In order to avoid an investigation, Mr. Cruz and Mr. Blackburn told Anheuser-Busch to “publicly sever ties with Dylan Mulvaney, publicly apologize to the American people for selling alcoholic beverages to minors, and endorse Anheuser-Busch. Instruct Dylan Mulvaney to remove Bush content.” About her social media platforms, they wrote in the letter.
The letter misgendered Mulvaney throughout, stating, “How Anheuser-Busch scrutinizes partnerships, and how Anheuser-Busch evaluates the adequacy of partnerships with Dylan Mulvaney.” It also seeks documentation and information on whether it failed.
Meanwhile, in Cruz’s home state of Texas,
After the expiration of Title 42, politicians on both sides of the aisle bussed immigrants to other cities, leaving the fate of thousands of immigrants up in the air.
The state faces an imminent crisis of housing and affordability. Only 25 rental units are available for every 100 low-income households, according to the government. texas tribune.
Texas is also facing a string of deadly extreme weather events.at least in 2022 Heatwave kills 279 in Texasand the year before that 246 Texans die in bitter winter. And Texas farmers are preparing for the next growing season. several years of drought.
Texas is also a center of gun violence. This is where five of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history took place.
