A New York Times report on Saturday revealed Ron DeSantis’ extravagant travel habits. private air travel.
Fresh off announcing his presidential bid, DeSantis flew several private jets owned by political supporters. The jets include Bombardier twin jets and Gulfstream jets, the NYT reports.
DeSantis’ use of private jets has been controversial. Most of his career has been spent in public affairs, according to The New York Times, where his net worth was reported at $319,000 last year. DeSantis relies on his supporters to fund such trips, as that is not enough to fly frequently on a private jet.
Florida Governor DeSantis has admitted to frequenting private jets, but insists “everything is legal, ethical and fine,” the NYT reported.
Since that report, more details about DeSantis’ flight data have begun to emerge. Jack Sweeney, a college student who tracks Elon Musk’s private jet flight data on his Twitter account, has begun tracking DeSantis’ air travel, too, told insider Sam Taverrity.
The plane in question is the Cessna Citation Latitude, a business jet manufactured by Rhode Island-based Textron Aviation Company. The plane is owned by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, according to Federal Aviation Administration records. Jets are owned by the government, DeSantis may not be the only one to fly, Sweeney said in a Twitter post on Sunday.
Let’s take a look inside the Cessna Citation Latitude, similar to the one used by DeSantis. The jet shown in the photo was designed with a standard configuration, so the interior may vary.
DeSantis did not immediately respond to an insider’s request for comment.
