Weddings can be expensive, especially when it comes to paying per person for food and drink. But when one smart bride shared how she hacked the system on her TikTok and ordered takeout from her popular fast-casual chain Chili’s, it saved her a ton of money.
However, the Internet has seen mixed reactions.
In this video, which has been viewed more than 2 million times, bride Madison Malkey explains how she ordered food for her big day, but it cost just $1,950 for 99 guests. That was about $19.69 per person.
“It’s insane to spend that much money on a wedding meal,” she told viewers.

To avoid delivery charges, Malkey picked up food at 11 a.m. instead of having it delivered to reception at 6 p.m. It also meant he was entrusted with other tasks, such as figuring out how to keep it fresh.
“My coordinator had to tell them what to do and take on roles that she really shouldn’t have, and neither should they,” Mulvey explained. Items such as chips, salsa, and egg rolls, added that the couple chose easy-to-eat items. “It was the perfect meal for our wedding. I’m so glad I chose Chili’s. I’m so glad I did this!”
The main concern among viewers seemed to be whether Malkey tipped his staff and pre-arranged the extra work.
One person wrote, “As a wedding planner, this is so unfair to planners and servicemen.” “If you’re going to do that, hire a delivery pickup driver and a special cook.”
“I can only think of how stressful it was for the staff,” another woman said.
In a follow-up video, Malkey explained that he tipped generously.

“We tipped everyone. We tipped Chili’s kitchen staff $300. We also tipped Chili’s kitchen staff $100 for Chili’s manager who went out of his way to make sure this was possible.” I gave a dollar tip,” he said, also mentioning tipping the coordinator and the server.
But others agreed with Mr. Malkey’s decision.
“I’m not going to lie, but I think I would have been very excited to eat this menu as a guest,” said one person.
And Chile’s opinion on the bride’s catering decision?
The restaurant chain commented with one word: “iconic.”
