Ford became the first major automaker to partner with Tesla following the US government’s push to make EV charging more widely available. The automaker has struck a deal that will allow some Ford EVs to power some Tesla Supercharger stations from spring 2024. As part of the deal, Ford announced that it will switch its vehicles to Tesla’s open-source North American Charging Standard (NACS) starting with the 2025 model year. Meanwhile, existing models that still use the (more or less) global standard Combined Charging System (CCS) will be able to opt for a Tesla-designed adapter to fill the gap.
The deal is remarkable, especially given the relative power, size and prestige of the two companies involved. Ford, one of the world’s largest automakers, has built a large private-brand charging network, but is ceding the future leadership of chargers to a relatively minor company. Needless to say, this risks triggering an EV charging format war between NACS and CCS, which could undermine consumer confidence in EVs. After all, if you parked your car at a gas station anywhere in the United States, there should be a one-size-fits-all way to fill your tank without worrying about pipe size.

At least for those on the Search Labs waitlist.
At I/O, Google showed off SGE, an experimental system that incorporates generative AI within search results. Currently, the company’s answer to Bing AI is at least in public testing, with users on the Search Labs waitlist. Once you receive an email telling you that you have access, you can type into the Google search bar (no separate chat window like Bing) to get AI-generated search results. You can expand the search results or choose to ask follow-up questions. .

This is a small but important step for Elon Musk to pull wires into people’s brains.
Neuralink, Elon Musk’s controversial brain-computer interface startup, claims the FDA has cleared human trials to begin. Regulators have yet to confirm this claim, and the company has said it has not yet recruited for human trials, but the approval will allow it to do so. In a tweet, Neuralink wanted to commend the team for the “incredible work” it did to get FDA approval, but more than 1,500 animals implanted with the technology have died. It didn’t mention that the study was rejected in March.

It may not be the outrageous bargain that previous versions offered, but it’s still a lot cheaper than most of his single tickets. And if you’re a true movie buff, you can pay up to $40 per month for 30 showings, which is a staggering amount per movie.
