A branch manager at a Hertfordshire property company has been suspended after publicly celebrating the death of Lord Jacob Rothschild, the financier and member of the Rothschild banking family, who died on Monday aged 87.
After his death, Amanda Hardy, who worked for Barkers Estate Agents in Borehamwood for almost 20 years, posted a message on social media saying: “The world is a better place with this Zionist’s passing. I can only hope that everyone else will follow suit.”
Barkers owner Chris Newell moved quickly to suspend Hardy pending an investigation that could lead to disciplinary action.
The Jewish News newspaper, which saw the post, said she initially apologized for causing offence, but said “people need to start asking questions.”
As for what the Jewish community thinks about her comments, she said: “I have a lot of Jewish friends, I have rabbis that I know, and I have a lot of beautiful Jewish friends. Honestly, they all love and respect me.” please. ”
Hardy denied that his comments were anti-Semitic or opposed to Judaism.
Mr Newell told reporters he was “deeply disappointed” by the message, adding that the views expressed in the post “do not represent the views of the company or its staff, but rather my own views. It is not representative of the.” which one”.
