Blue Bar Team Remake Silent Hill 2 It’s due to be released on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 8th, and it looks fantastically creepy. PlayStation Store and vapor.
It’s been less than two years since Konami and Bloober Team announced it. Silent Hill 2 The remake is still yet to be released, although its existence was leaked a few months ago, giving fans plenty of time to grow sad about the situation. Today, the first gameplay trailer for the remake was released, showcasing the familiar hallways lined with bloody nurses, dark environments infested with bugs, and other nasty surprises that are always lurking in the sleepy town of Silent Hill. With updated visuals, lighting, and sensibilities, it all looks eerily beautiful.
The release date trailer was revealed during today’s PlayStation State of Play showcase, and shortly after, Konami held an event dedicated to a number of Silent Hill projects, Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Bloober Team is the studio behind the Layers of Fear series. Observer, Blair Witch and Moderate — all of which are great psychological horror experiences, but there’s plenty to live up to. Silent Hill 2 is a beloved classic horror game that first came out on PlayStation 2 in 2001, and even after more than 20 years, fans are still eager to see a remake. Bloober Team has completely rebuilt the game, including full performance capture and changing the semi-fixed camera to a more modern third-person perspective.
Bluberteam co-founder Piotr Babieno told Engadget in June 2023 that the studio had completely shifted its ethos for making games. Silent Hill 2 Rather than prioritizing atmosphere and set decoration, the remake relies on player input to evoke unease, a mechanic that provides the foundation for on-screen terror. Layers of fear The collection, released last summer, marked the end of Bloober Team’s psychological horror era. Babieno said last June:
“This year is kind of the end of the era of making psychological horror games. Now we’re in Bloober Team 3.0, making mass-market horror. We’ve decided that our next title will be more mass-market. We want to speak to more people. It’s in our DNA, we want to communicate ideas through action, not through environments or storytelling. So all our future titles will incorporate a lot of gameplay mechanics. They’ll be bigger.”
