JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has not publicly endorsed Donald Trump or Kamala Harris, but in a new op-ed he is calling on the current presidential candidates to unite the country.
“Dimon told The Washington Post on Friday:The next president must restore faith in America.“And he called on the next president to win the support of all voters, not just those in his own party.”
“Recognize that every voter is different and has good reason to think differently,” he wrote. “Don’t insult, stereotype, weaponize, scapegoat, or gaslight them. And don’t attack them. Engage with them.”

Dimon stressed that the United States is at a critical juncture in its history and that all its citizens would benefit if the nation came together.
He said the next president would need “courage” to listen to dissent, change his mind if necessary and put the country above party interests.
“We must elect a president who is committed to the ideals that define and unite us, and who is committed to restoring faith in America and our indispensable role in the world,” Dimon wrote.

Dimon also said the president’s next cabinet should be created based on talent and expertise, not party or industry.

Dimon’s op-ed included other suggestions, such as unifying policies on housing, immigration and education and forcing leaders to acknowledge the problems. He pointed to former presidents Abraham Lincoln and Dwight D. Eisenhower as examples, noting that Eisenhower would have lunch with politicians he disagreed with and listen to them.
“If we truly want to unite our country, we must begin to treat our disagreements, grievances and criticisms as opportunities to find common ground and make us better,” Dimon wrote.
