AMD has started releasing some (but not all) patches. The Sinkclose flaw is considered to be a higher risk to governments and other large organizations than ordinary users, and even then, exploiting it would require deep access to a specific system. But the researchers who discovered the flaw warned that if exploited, it could have dire consequences, as it could allow hackers to execute code in the chip’s normally protected system administration mode.
