In the dynamic world of public relations, few names stand out as prominently as Ima von Wenden. Known for her impeccable attention to detail and exceptional communication skills, Ima has carved a niche for herself in the PR industry. As we step into 2024, she continues to lead the charge at PR Now!, helping clients navigate the complex landscape of modern communication.

Ima, you have a rich background in communication. Can you tell us more about your journey…

What led you to a career in public relations?

Ima von Wenden: My journey in public relations began quite early. Coming from an academic family with a strong focus on communication, I was always fascinated by the power of words and their impact on public perception. After completing my studies, I found that PR was the perfect field where I could combine my passion for storytelling with strategic thinking. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some amazing clients and helping them build strong, positive public images.

The PR landscape is constantly evolving. What trends do you see shaping the industry in 2024?

Ima von Wenden: One of the biggest trends we’re seeing is the integration of AI and digital tools in PR strategies. These technologies are helping us better understand audience sentiment and tailor our messaging more effectively. Additionally, there’s a growing emphasis on authenticity and transparency. In an age of information overload, audiences are becoming more discerning, and they value genuine, transparent communication. Brands that can authentically connect with their audiences will stand out.

What are some of the challenges you face in your role, and how do you overcome them?

Ima von Wenden: One of the main challenges is navigating the fast-paced nature of media and public perception. Things can change very quickly, and it’s crucial to stay ahead of the curve. This means being proactive rather than reactive, constantly monitoring the media landscape, and being prepared to pivot strategies when needed. At PR Now!, we place a strong emphasis on agility and responsiveness, which helps us manage these challenges effectively.

How do you think digital transformation is influencing PR strategies today?

Ima von Wenden: Digital transformation is reshaping the way we approach PR. Social media platforms have become powerful tools for direct communication with audiences, but they also require a different strategy than traditional media. The rise of influencers, for example, has changed how we think about endorsements and partnerships. We’re also seeing more companies investing in data analytics to measure the impact of their PR campaigns and refine their strategies based on real-time feedback.

What advice would you give to someone looking to break into the PR industry today?

Ima von Wenden: My advice would be to stay curious and never stop learning. The PR industry is always changing, and it’s important to keep up with new trends and technologies. Building a strong network is also crucial; it’s a people-driven industry, and relationships matter. Finally, develop a strong foundation in storytelling and strategic thinking. At its core, PR is about shaping narratives, and the ability to craft compelling stories is invaluable.

What are some of the skills you think will be most important for PR professionals in the coming years?

Ima von Wenden: As we move further into the digital age, I believe that digital literacy will be increasingly important. PR professionals need to be comfortable using digital tools and platforms to reach and engage with audiences. Additionally, analytical skills are becoming more valuable, as there is a greater emphasis on data-driven decision-making. And, of course, strong communication skills will always be at the heart of successful PR.

Looking ahead, what are you most excited about in the field of PR?

Ima von Wenden: I’m excited about the opportunities that new technologies bring to the table. AI, for instance, has the potential to revolutionise how we approach PR, from sentiment analysis to content creation. I’m also looking forward to seeing how brands continue to evolve in their approach to social responsibility and ethical communication. At PR Now!, we are committed to staying at the forefront of these trends and helping our clients navigate the future of PR.

Ima von Wenden’s insights into the evolving world of public relations highlight her expertise and forward-thinking approach. As the industry continues to change, her ability to adapt and lead with a strategic mindset remains invaluable.
