Q: What inspired you to become a Critical Friend and Business Mentor?
Toni: My journey has always been about helping people and organisations navigate change with compassion. From my time in central government to my leadership roles in social care, I saw first-hand the need for authentic leadership. I wanted to help leaders become business leaders and provide them with both critical feedback and support—hence the term “Critical Friend.” My aim is to create resilient, compassionate business leaders who are equipped to handle crisis and change.
Q: Can you explain your 4Ps Model and how it helps leaders?
Toni: The 4Ps Model stands for Purpose People Planet Profit ( Or Performance). It’s a holistic approach to business leadership to grow with a solid foundation, become a market leader as well as futureproofing business . Purpose focuses on vision and values, People focus on what are you doing for the people? CSR DEIB and Social Impact, Planet focuses on sustainability and environment SDGs whilst Profit ( or Performance ) focuses on how you measure success. . When leaders master these four areas, they can lead with clarity, compassion, long lasting impact and success.
Q: What role does DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) play in your leadership approach?
Toni: DEIB is at the heart of everything I do. Creating environments where everyone feels they belong is essential to building innovative and resilient organisations. I focus on the leader of the organisation and how they work, what makes them tick is key to the organisation change growth and more importantly culture. Because of my skillset and experience I can create bespoke and tailored solutions for leaders based on their learning, environment and behaviour to get a desired shift.
Compassionate approaches also foster inclusion and ensures that everyone’s voice is heard and valued.
Q: How does your Magic BLEND Model help leaders during times of crisis?
Toni: The Magic BLEND Model helps leaders manage change identifying the key catalyst for change – Behaviour Learning Environment Network and Development which integrating sustainability, wellbeing, and innovation. It’s a balanced approach that recognises the human element in business transformations. Leaders need to address not just the financial or operational side of change but also how it affects their people. This model helps businesses not only survive crises but emerge stronger, with a compassionate, forward-thinking mindset.
Q: What advice would you give to young social entrepreneurs just starting out?
Toni: Focus on purpose. Know why you’re doing what you’re doing and stay aligned with that purpose. It’s easy to get sidetracked, especially when challenges arise, but having a clear vision helps you stay grounded. Also, find a mentor who understands your journey—someone who can challenge you, support you, and keep you accountable. Lastly, don’t be afraid to fail; every misstep is a learning opportunity.
Q: What is your proudest achievement in your career so far?
Toni: I’m incredibly proud of developing the Compassionate Organisation and Leadership Framework. It a toolkit that brings together everything I believe about business leadership—compassion, DEIB, innovation, and resilience for the induvial leader and in turn the organisation.
