In a few weeks, all the tweets you see in your For You feed will come from Twitter Blue users. Twitter boss Elon Musk announced Starting April 15th, For You recommendations will only show Tweets from verified accounts.
Musk explained that the company is moving to combat AI bots and that it is the “only realistic way” to prevent a “swarm of advanced AI bots” from taking over. He also said that Twitter is fighting a “battle of hopeless defeat” if it doesn’t implement the changes. (and will likely appear on your For You timeline).
Twitter’s For You interface not only shows Tweets from accounts you follow, but also content based on Tweets you’ve previously liked and Tweets liked by others in your network. Before moving on to other platforms, this feature[フォロー中]It debuted on iOS in January as an alternative to tabs. Not everyone liked it, and Twitter released an update so that its web and mobile apps default to the last Timeline tab users had open. Showing only may mean that users who choose to show it will see more Promotional Tweets.
After all, Twitter Blue subscribers will soon be the only verified accounts on the social media site. Twitter previously announced that it would retire the traditional checkmark on April 1, stripping public officials, businesses, government and non-governmental organizations of their verified status unless they pay.
Starting April 15, only verified accounts will appear in For You recommendations.
This is the only realistic way to deal with swarms of advanced AI bots. Otherwise it’s a hopeless losing battle.
