Labor MP Kate Osamor has regained the party whip following an investigation into social media posts she made in January last year.
An Edmonton MP was suspended in January after using a social media post commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day to accuse Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.
She said in the post: “Tomorrow is Holocaust Remembrance Day, the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust, the millions of people who were murdered under the Nazis’ persecution of other groups, and the people of Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and now is Gaza.”
The comments sparked criticism and the lawmaker quickly apologized before being suspended by the party in parliament pending an investigation.
A Labor Party spokesperson confirmed Mr Osamor had his whip repaired on Wednesday, adding: “The leader today restored the Labor whip to Kate Osamor MP. This follows a full investigation by Labor into complaints received about social media posts she made in January.”
Regarding the repair of the whip, Osamor said: “I am grateful for the Labor Party’s investigation into my conduct and fully accept its findings. I would like to once again sincerely apologize for my comments. I have made insensitive and inappropriate comments and I would like to apologize and reflect. Doing.

This comes after Conservative MP Natalie Elphicke abruptly defected to the Labor Party. The addition of the Dover MP, who takes a hard line on illegal immigration and is a member of the right-wing Eurosceptic Tory European Research Group, has upset the Labor benches.
Former Labor Party leader Lord Kinnock was among those who questioned the move.
