Another iOS update is now available after several Apple users complained about concerning issues with the Photos app.
On Monday, the tech giant released iOS 17.5.1 and iPadOS 17.5.1, just a week after the 17.5 update. The change comes days after iPhone owners reported noticing photos that appeared to have been permanently deleted reappearing in their photo libraries. Contains NSFW photos.
Apple said in a statement that the update “addresses a rare issue where photos that have experienced database corruption may reappear in your Photos library even if they are deleted.”
Users who encountered this issue said they were surprised to see content back in their libraries that they thought was gone years ago.
“The four photos I took in 2010 keep showing up as the most recent photos uploaded to iCloud. I deleted them multiple times,” one user commented in a thread on the r/iOS subreddit.
Despite the correction, the commenter mcroomers A post about the update says there are still concerns about privacy and whether deleted photos are actually gone.
One user wrote, “Are we going to ignore the photo that was returned as a bug? Is it just a problem?! That’s not enough. So, was the photo deleted or not? The update screen shows a note instead of a note. I want more details.”
Apple did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.
