Former Conservative MP Lucy Allan He is in negotiations with Reform UK leader Richard Tice to stand as his party’s candidate in the general election. I can be revealed.
Ms Telford, who had said she was leaving the House of Commons, was expelled from the Conservative party at the weekend after she voiced her support for the Reform UK candidate to take over her seat in the election.
She is understood to be considering whether to run for the Reform Party in the neighbouring constituency of Wrekin.
A Reform Party official said: I“Wouldn’t it be interesting if Lucy took the plunge and ran as a Reform candidate in a nearby constituency?
“I wouldn’t be surprised if she decides to run for Reform in Wrekin.”
If talks are successful, Allan’s departure to the Reform Party could be announced by the party in his Shropshire constituency as early as this week.
The Reform source added: “Nigel held a press conference in Dover to announce the candidates and there is another big announcement tomorrow. [Thursday]. “
This follows the departure of Lee Anderson, who joined the party in March after being suspended as a Conservative MP for refusing to apologise for claims that Muslims “control” London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
If you contact us I Asked on Wednesday whether there would be further defections from the Conservative Party to the Reform Party, Theis, the party’s leader, said: “Well, that’s interesting. Discussions are still ongoing.”
This week Allan publicly endorsed Reform Party candidate Alan Adams, rather than the Conservative candidate Hannah Campbell, who is standing for the seat he is vacating.
The Conservative party claimed that Allan, who has represented Telford since 2015, had been suspended over pro-reform social media posts, but claimed he had left the party to support Adams.
“I have resigned from the Conservative party to support Alan Adams as the next MP for Telford,” Mr Alan said on Monday.
“I’ve known Alan for many years and he really is the best person for the job. I want the best outcome for Telford so I can’t let the Labour candidate win.”
On Tuesday, Reform Party honorary chairman Nigel Farage announced Howard Cox as his party’s candidate in Dover.
The car campaigner and former Conservative supporter stood as the party’s candidate in May’s London mayoral election.
Mr Farage and Ms Tice are due to set out the party’s policy on tackling both illegal and legal immigration to the UK on Thursday.
Tice added that the Reform Party was “very close” to filling candidate lists in every constituency in the UK except Northern Ireland.
“Now, 630 packs of candidacy documents are being delivered to candidates by registered mail from our centre in Midrand via 10 post offices and should reach all candidates by tomorrow,” Tice said.
“Essentially, we have a Plan A and a Plan B. We have a Plan B as a backup in case for some reason the candidate can’t fill in. So we are confident that we can field 630 candidates and have enough reserve candidates outside of the 630 if needed.”
He argued that the Reform Party was “much better than the Conservatives in terms of filling out the slate”.
Despite opinion polls pointing to the opposite, Theis said he expects his party to win seats in the election, and believes the Reform Party will win more votes than the Liberal Democrats.
Alan has been contacted for comment.
