In an interview, Kullberg explained the secret to his YouTube channel’s rapid growth. entrepreneur.
Entrepreneur: Did you have any strategic thinking or initiatives to make your channel stand out and monetize it?
Kullberg: When I first started on YouTube, I committed to posting one video per week for a year, no matter what. What you often see on YouTube is people post five videos, then get disheartened when they realize that five videos doesn’t magically get them to 1,000 subscribers, so they give up. So 52. It was a big mindset thing.
Another thing I did was to research and analyze YouTube channels before launching my channel. I realized the importance of having a good thumbnail and a good title. Also, it has to be a topic that you are very passionate about.
It took me 3 months to reach 1,000 subscribers, and that was after posting one video per week, with me spending 15-20 hours on each video.
How can I find a YouTube niche that I can grow quickly in? Are there any tools or research methods you would recommend to explore that area?
As for your niche, I would recommend not basing it on a piece of content that has the potential to grow quickly. Base it on something that you’re passionate about. I think looking at how big the biggest person in that niche is is a good indicator to understand how big your potential market is. That way you can get a rough idea of how big your niche is.
And if you’re thinking specifically about how to make money through YouTube, how to use YouTube to supplement your current income or eventually replace it, you should also think about how profitable your niche is. Not only is YouTube ad revenue one way to make money, other opportunities can be profitable as well. Can I become an affiliate marketer?
If you have a gardening channel, you can also promote gardening products and earn commission from them. That’s affiliate marketing, so it’s not just about growing this channel and getting more subscribers, it’s about thinking two steps ahead about your revenue potential.

The YouTube search bar is a great tool. There are also paid tools that YouTubers use. The three paid tools that come to mind are TubeBuddy, VidIQ, and ViewStats.com.
What preparations did you make before posting your first video?
I analyzed what other videos are doing, and one of the exercises I would encourage you to do is go find people who are talking about the same things that you want to talk about.
Once you have that list, go to your YouTube videos and sort them by popularity, which will give you an idea of what topics your videos cover.
At this point, how can you ensure your channel continues to grow?
For me, I think if you keep putting out content, it will continue to grow organically. It doesn’t always grow at the same pace. For example, in the personal finance space, if you want to get the most views, you need to talk about trending things and stay on top of trending topics.
However, my channel changed direction and I started creating content that I wanted to talk about instead.

How do you balance YouTube with your other ventures like your legal tech startup Plug and Law?
As you start making money on YouTube, you’ll learn what you can do uniquely and what you can outsource.
When I started YouTube, I was working full time as a lawyer and doing YouTube as a hobby 20 hours a week on top of that.

I edited my first video myself, but it took me 20 hours to learn how to edit, and then another 10 hours to edit that video, so I hired an editor.
Once I started making money from YouTube, I was able to outsource different parts of YouTube. So I was able to hire someone to design my thumbnails. I learned how to outsource and delegate work. Now I have a lot of people on my team who help me, but that wasn’t the case at the beginning.
You used to work in corporate law – what advice would you give to someone considering a career change?
Make sure you have enough money. If you are thinking of quitting your job to retire, change jobs, or start your own business, start saving.
If you can start a side hustle on the weekends, as soon as it starts generating regular income, it will become your main hobby and you will be able to quit your job.
Have you ever regretted leaving corporate life?
I have never regretted leaving the corporate world.
I became a lawyer because I wanted to help people and make a difference. But being a corporate lawyer didn’t do that for me, and I didn’t like being controlled and having a boss dictate my hours. I feel very lucky and have never regretted taking the plunge to come here, leaving corporate life and a big salary behind.

What other advice would you give to entrepreneurs looking to start and grow their YouTube channel?
Be clear about your mission, understand your route to monetization, understand that results won’t be instant, understand that it will probably take twice as long to reach the number of subscribers you want, be patient, and understand that it’s hard work.
I forget the exact numbers, but it took me 3 months to reach 1000 subscribers, another 3 months to reach 2000, and then between the 5th and 6th month, I went from 2000 to 52000 subscribers. $20,000 That month it’s from YouTube.
It was a combination of YouTube, ad revenue, affiliates and sponsorships, meaning you are just one video away from changing the trajectory of your future. Be patient and don’t give up.
