Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and venture capitalist David Sachs have reportedly personally lobbied Donald Trump to select J.D. Vance as his running mate. Axios.

According to the magazine, Sachs was introduced to former President Trump by Vance, himself a former venture capitalist, and influenced Trump’s decision.
Carlson told Axios that Vance was the obvious choice because “unlike some of the other candidates, he doesn’t secretly hate Trump.”
“He basically agrees with Trump. That’s why neocon donors [who want more aid for Ukraine] “Fear him,” he said.
Vance was one of 18 senators who tried to block a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine and Israel earlier this year.
Though the bill was ultimately approved, Vance told reporters that his actions “made it pretty clear to Europe and the rest of the world that the United States cannot write blank checks indefinitely.” Politico.

Sachs reposted Musk’s comments and, in a follow-up post, called Vance an “American patriot.”

Vance has transformed from a critic of Trump, once calling him “the American Hitler,” into a staunch supporter of the former president.
“I was skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016, but he’s been a great president and he’s changed my mind,” Vance said Monday in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
“I believed the media’s lies and distortions,” he added.
