According to the government’s Housing Survey for England, private rented accommodation is more satisfied with its housing than social housing residents.
82% of private rented tenants were satisfied with their housing in 2022/23, compared with 74% in the social rented sector.
Meera Chindroy, deputy director of campaigns, communications and policy at the National Residential Landlords Association, said: “We recognise the industry faces many challenges and will continue to work with the Government to ensure the planned reforms to the rental market work for tenants and responsible landlords.”
“That said, the government’s own data shows that the vast majority of renters are satisfied with their homes and the services their landlords provide.
“We need to build on this to ensure all landlords do what the vast majority of landlords are already doing – providing decent housing for their tenants.”
The data shows that 76% of private rented tenants are satisfied with the housing services provided by their landlord, compared to 64% of tenants in the social care sector.
