The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee has filed a lawsuit against YouTuber Logan Paul and KSI’s beverage brand Prime for using its trademark without permission.
The drink packaging features basketball player Kevin Durant. 3 times Prime Olympic gold medalist Athlete illegally used the Olympic trademark, the USOPC said in a lawsuit filed Friday in Colorado.
The company also used the trademark in social media posts promoting the beverage, according to the USOPC.
Trademarked phrases included “Olympics,” “Olympian,” “Team USA” and “Going for the Gold Medal.”
The USOPC reserves the right to: Olympic terminology and imagery In the United States, the company “relies heavily on” its trademark licenses to fund the U.S. Olympic team, the lawsuit said.
According to the lawsuit, this includes an agreement with Coca-Cola that allows the company exclusive use of the Olympic trademarks, including “Olympic” and “Team USA,” on its beverage products in the United States.
“Much of the value of our sponsorship agreements derives from their exclusivity,” the USOPC wrote in its complaint. “When any individual or organization uses the USOPC trademarks without authorization, the exclusivity of these agreements is threatened.”
The complaint included screenshots showing examples of the phrases being used in Prime’s Instagram and LinkedIn posts. At the time of writing, Business Insider was unable to find the posts in question on Prime’s social media channels.
The only mention of Durant on Prime’s social media channels appeared to be a 17-second video clip posted on July 11 featuring Durant with Paul and streamer iShowSpeed, who is a Prime ambassador.
One of the Instagram posts included in the lawsuit appeared to celebrate the release of the drink at Walmart, Kroger and Target.

The USOPC described Prime’s actions as “a deliberate, deliberate and malicious attempt to exploit the goodwill of the USOPC and the IOC.”
The USOPC said its lawyers contacted Prime Hydration on July 10 and asked it to stop the piracy, but Prime continued to ship the products.
Prime was first released in January 2022 and sold out within hours. When it was released in the UK, it quickly became a status symbol among young people, with retailers struggling to keep it on their shelves and creating a black market.
The drinks come in a variety of flavors, with two main varieties: Energy and Hydration. Prime has been accused of targeting younger consumers with its highly caffeinated energy drinks.
The US Olympic Committee and the prime minister did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s requests for comment sent outside normal US business hours.
