Delta Airlines Prominent lawyer David Boies seeks damages Crowdstrike and Microsoft A systems failure this month caused millions of computers to crash and thousands of flights to be cancelled.
CrowdStrike shares fell 5% in after-hours trading on Monday after CNBC’s Phil LeBeau reported on Delta Air Lines’ hiring of Chairman Boies Schiller Flexner. Microsoft was little changed.
On July 19, a CrowdStrike software update caused a historic outage for Microsoft systems that knocked many industries offline. Airlines were hit particularly hard, with the Department of Transportation announcing last week that it was investigating Delta Airlines, which suffered widespread flight disruptions and service outages.
CrowdStrike lost nearly a quarter of its share price in two trading days amid concerns about the company’s business following the attack.
No lawsuit has been filed, but LeBeau reported that Delta plans to seek damages from Microsoft and CrowdStrike. Delta did not respond to a request for comment.
The outages have cost Delta an estimated $350 million to $500 million, and the airline is fielding more than 176,000 requests for refunds or reimbursements after nearly 7,000 flights were canceled.
