Two of Oldham’s well-known independent estate agents, Valentines Estate Agents and Cornerstone Estates and Lettings, have agreed to join forces.
The deal will see Valentines clients referred to the Cornerstone team and Valentines Estate Agents’ Shaw offices – Farrow Street, Rushcroft Road and Rochdale Road – will close later this year.
Valentines director Deborah Valentine is planning to gradually step back from the industry after 45 years as a real estate agent with a view to retirement.
“I’ve been a real estate agent for 45 years and have run my own business for nearly 10 years. It was a big decision for me to prepare to retire,” Valentine said.
Valentine said he decided to partner with Cornerstone Estates & Lettings, led by Shereen Howarth, because they share similar values.
“I put my customers first above all else, and I wanted to pass the baton to someone who will take care of them as I have,” she said. “Shereen loves the show as much as I do and is passionate about keeping our community thriving.”
Howarth said he was “surprised and honoured” to be approached by Valentine.
She commented, “I have a background in finance and business, but nothing gives me more than decades of experience and connections than having Deborah as a mentor.”
“She is helping to usher in a new era for Cornerstone that we expect will be our biggest and best yet.”
