The Sonos app has been broken and has caused a lot of problems over the past few months for customers as well as dealers and installers. Now, the company has logged the app issues it has already fixed on a public Trello board, which users can view for themselves. Problems with the Sonos app began to surface after the company implemented a major app redesign in April. The revamped app was supposed to make it easier to play different types of content and introduce more new features. But users found the app lacked basic functionality, like the ability to set alarms. There was also a plethora of performance and reliability issues, including being unable to reposition speakers, speakers not working at all, and difficulty adding new devices to their home setup.
Sonos CEO Patrick Spence Acknowledged In a post published in July, the company pointed out “significant issues” with the new Sonos app, saying that Sonos has been releasing updates since May to improve the performance of the app, and provided a timeline for other fixes, including improved alarm consistency and restoring playlist editing mode, that will be rolled out in the coming months.
Nieves is currently solely maintaining a Trello board that so far contains release notes for previous fixes, as well as a list of upcoming patches. He said the cards on the board come from various posts and release note correspondence, and acknowledged that the board is “not an exhaustive list.” [Sonos’] This is an internal roadmap and is not a complete overview of all known issues,” but he is open to collaborating with users and asks them to PM him if they are experiencing issues that are not listed on the cards.
