Many of Apple Intelligence’s most anticipated features will arrive gradually after the release of . December may be the first time the iPhone offers AI-generated images, custom emojis, and more, according to Apple’s Mark Gurman. Apple Intelligence is set to debut in the iOS 11.1, and Gurman previously reported it’s likely to arrive sometime in October. It’s also reported that the upcoming image generation tool, Image Playground, won’t be the first feature. Instead, Gurman predicts it will ship with iOS 18.2, due in December.
Apple unveiled Genmoji and Image Playground at its June event. Genmoji lets users create custom emojis from prompts or create emojis of real people based on photos, while Image Playground can generate images in three styles: animated, illustrated, and sketch. It comes as a standalone app or as a built-in tool in other apps like Messages.
All these features will be available on the iPhone 16 series when it is unveiled on Monday, September 9. It also brings ChatGPT integration, message summaries, a smarter Siri, and more.
