Apple is reportedly working on iPad-like smart home devices designed to compete with Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub products. bloombergIt will reportedly be “essentially a low-end iPad” that will act as a hub to control thermostats, lights, security systems, and even enable FaceTime chat. It can be mounted on a wall using a magnetic clip or positioned as a home hub type device rather than a regular iPad.
The company is also discussing the idea of building a smart home display bigger than the iPad, but no other details. Neither smart home product will be ready until 2024 at the earliest, he said.
