Olaplex has been sued by a group of customers who allege that its hair care products contain “dangerous” chemicals that can cause “serious injury.”
In a 61-page complaint filed Thursday in federal court for the Central District of California, a group of customers singled out Olaplex No. 0 through No. 9 products for hair and scalp complaints, including “baldness” and “dry and brittle.” You said you experienced a problem. In the new lawsuit, customers also took aim at advertising campaigns for brands including Drew Barrymore and influencers, alleging the products could cause harm.
According to the complaint, it hired a network of celebrities, salon employees and influencers to promote its products and provided them with marketing materials, training and other information to make “false or misleading statements.”
Customers also accused Olaplex of downplaying negative feedback about its products and being unfair about the volume of complaints related to its products.
