Whale sells 1,010 NFTs in 48 hours in ‘biggest NFT dump ever’
NFT whale Jeffrey Hwang, also known as Machi Big Brother, sold 1,010 NFTs within 48 hours. The NFT he traded for 11,680 Ether (ETH) was valued at approximately $18.6 million at the time of sale. Some of her NFTs sold were from her notable NFT collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) and Otherdeed NFTs.
In a Twitter thread, Andrew Thurman of on-chain analytics firm Nansen noted that the move could be “the biggest NFT dump of all time.” Following the dump, fans bought back his 991 of his NFTs, leading Thurman to believe it was a “big deal” to profit from Blur’s airdrop.

Neil Stevenson snow crash — recognized as the book that coined the term “Metaverse” — will soon be auctioned by art broker Sotheby’s. Bidding opens on his February 27th and ends on March 6th.
This auction is part of a series called “Infocalypse” which includes 6 physical and 6 digital items related to books.

74% of survey participants say they buy NFTs for status
Metaverse platform Metajuice surveyed over 6,000 NFT users to identify the motivations behind NFT purchases. As a result, he found that nearly three of his four girlfriends of collectors buy his NFTs for status and uniqueness.
Metajuice president John Burris says people want to own items that “increase perceived status” and how they appear in the metaverse. The executive also added that NFTs are a “key part” of this.
