kia is giving us us First Look The impressive mid-sized EV9 SUV interior and exterior, along with key specs like battery size and powertrain, are set to officially debut early next month. The market-ready version stays true to the original his EV9 concept, which we first saw in November 2021, but with toned-down blocks.Still, just like the EV6, it’s a dramatic and interesting design.
The upcoming model has a triangular window in the rear quarter panel similar to the EV6, but otherwise seems to take inspiration from boxy SUVs like the old Range Rover. “The triangular fender structure and the highly pronounced geometric wheel arches are combined with the fuselage,” says Kia, “formed from a polygonal design language.” Despite all the lines and edges, Kia says his EV9 is still very aerodynamic.

It will be one of the first EVs to enter the popular midsize SUV category, as it will offer three rows of seating. That means you’ll be competing against ICE cars like Kia’s Telluride, Toyota Highlander, and Ford Explorer. A boxy, square rear end means it should offer plenty of headroom.
One interesting feature is the use of swivel captain’s chairs in the middle row. This allows you to turn into an Orient Express-style rear seat. Depending on whether the rear seats are buckets or benches, it will be sold in 6-seater and he will be sold in 7-seater configurations.

Up front, Kia ditched the concept’s massive wraparound display in favor of two 12.3-inch screens for the gauge cluster and infotainment system. Fewer physical buttons and added touch-sensitive dash controls. Mesh materials are used for the interior to further enhance the sense of openness.
Other details, including infotainment system features, are being kept secret until the vehicle is officially unveiled in early April. We know it will be built using his E-GMP platform from the EV6, but Kia has yet to say anything about his EV9’s power output, battery size, range or price. With the EV6 starting at $45,000 or so, the EV9 could be significantly higher than that, but as we’ve seen with Kia, it could be affordable in its category.
