- Trump’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, called the Manhattan court battle “all-out war.”
- He said Trump would surrender if indicted, but would be “loud and proud” when he did.
- Tacopina’s words of struggle came after he called on people to protest if Trump was arrested on Saturday.
Trump’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, issued some harsh words to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on Monday.
“At that point, this is all-out war” Tacopina told podcast host Kimberly Guilfoyle — also the fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. “Donald Trump is the toughest human being I’ve ever met. We are under pressure from political opponents to weaponize us.”
Tacopina said it would be “very disappointing” if Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his team indicted Trump.
Tacopina also echoed his own comments on Friday that he would surrender if his client was indicted. But the picture Tacopina painted of a possible Trump surrender did not include a guarantee that Trump would surrender quietly.
“Do they want him at 100 Center Street? He’ll be there loud and proud,” Tacopina said, referring to Manhattan Criminal Court. No people, but again, let’s see where they go and what the process is like, it’s going to be one of the best times in the history of this country for everyone It’s completely new.”
Tacopina chose the term “total war” after Trump called his supporters out on Saturday.
Trump claimed without proof or evidence that he would be arrested in New York on Tuesday, Asked his supporters to come together in force to “Protest, Protest, Protest!!!”
“Protest and take back our country!” Trump wrote to true socialechoing his rhetoric before the deadly January 6th Capitol riots.
In January 2021, Trump was impeached for a second time after the Democratic-led House accused him of inciting riots. Trump has consistently denied responsibility for inciting violence. He also argued that his speech ahead of the Capitol riots in January 2021 — which called on supporters to “fight like hell” to take back the country — was “perfectly appropriate.”
Indictments are looming against Trump in New York for over $130,000 in hush money paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who she had an affair with Trump in 2006.
Bragg is currently investigating whether Trump’s payments to Daniels were illegal campaign expenses and whether they violated New York’s election and documentation laws. He claimed he never paid her $130,000 to keep quiet about the relationship.
A grand jury is now hearing testimony from final witnesses.
If Trump is arrested in New York, he will have to have his face photographed and his DNA swabbed. He is accompanied by Secret Service officers all the way.
Trump has already launched a series of preemptive strikes against Bragg. He and his team sent out multiple Truth Social posts and email blasts last week that attacked Bragg and spread unsubstantiated rumors about prosecutors.
Bragg personally assured employees that they would be protected from threats to the district attorney’s office amid Trump’s protest call.
“Our law enforcement partners will ensure that specific or credible threats to the office are fully investigated and appropriate safeguards are put in place to ensure that all 1,600 people have a safe working environment.” Bragg wrote to employees on Saturday. Politics.
