Cash App founder Bob Lee, 43, died Tuesday after being fatally stabbed early in the morning in San Francisco’s Rincon Hill neighborhood. Lee had previously relocated to Miami and was in San Francisco for a visit.
Lee was born in Missouri and worked as an engineer before moving to San Francisco in 2004 to work at Google. Lee worked on Android Core Tech where he worked on the library. He worked at Behemoth for five years before being hired by Square to develop the app. He then became the company’s first chief technology officer, a position he held until his retirement in 2014.
In 2013, Lee developed Cash App, a payment service that is now widely used.
Lee’s interests also extend beyond business. After the Covid-19 outbreak, he helped develop an app for the World Health Organization amid the global pandemic.
