A spike in user activity on Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) polygons in March made the network the second largest blockchain gaming network in terms of Unique Active Wallets (UAW).

According to Blockchain Games on April 6th report According to data published by decentralized application (DApp) analytics platform DappRadar, the number of UAWs involved in gaming on Polygon reached 138,081 in March, a 53% increase compared to February.

This number significantly outstrips Polygon at 84,000 UAW and 80,000 UAW, ahead of Hive and BNB Chain in 3rd and 4th place.

“Polygon, a blockchain formerly known for its DeFi DApps, overtook Hive this month to secure the second spot. ‘, the report said.

According to DappRadar data, Polygon’s massive increase in UAW was attributed to the Hunters On-Chain game by BoomLand, which saw a UAW increase of over 17,000% in the last 30 days alone.

Launched in January, Hunters On-Chain is a Web3 adaptation of BoomLand’s mobile game Hunt Royale. It’s a free-to-play RPG with NFT integration, similar in look and style to Minecraft.

Notably, on March 9th, the game’s UAW count hit an all-time high of around 55,300.

Expectations for an in-game NFT sale on March 31 may have played a role, but it’s unclear what specifically triggered the increased interest in the game last month.

More broadly, the report found that all “on-chain gaming activity fell by 3.33% in March to 741,567 unique active wallets (dUAW) daily. It accounts for 45.6% of the activity.”

Over the past few months, we’ve seen a lot of bullish momentum around Polygon, especially around NFTs, gaming, and the metaverse.

So far Polygon Labs, the team behind the network, has recorded a long list of high-profile partnerships including Warner Music, Starbucks, Adidas, Reddit and Adobe to develop and host NFT projects. .

The team also successfully launched a zero-knowledge rollup equivalent to Polygon’s open-source Ethereum Virtual Machine on March 27. It is touted as allowing DApps to scale through transaction batching, resulting in higher performance while reducing gas costs for executing transactions on the network.
