Founder of Cash App Bob Lee was fatally stabbed Court documents obtained by NBC News on Friday show two men were arrested by an IT consultant near downtown San Francisco after they got into an altercation over the suspect’s sister.
Suspect — Nima Momeni, 38 According to the documents, Lee was driven to a secluded location in the San Francisco suburb of Emeryville and stabbed three times with a four-inch kitchen knife, two in the chest. At least one of his stab wounds pierced Lee’s heart.
As a result of the dispute, Momeni’s sister texted Lee, documents show. She said, “I just wanted to make sure you were doing well. [I] I know Nima came down hard on you,” she wrote, according to the document.
“Thank you for being such a classy guy to handle it in class,” she added.
Momeni was arrested Thursday morning after a nine-day manhunt that drew national attention and increased scrutiny on public safety issues in the Bay Area.

He will be charged with murder, the San Francisco district attorney told reporters on Thursday. He is scheduled to be arraigned on April 25, a district attorney’s office spokesman confirmed.He faces his 26-year life behind bars.
The revelation that Lee and Momeni knew each other has overturned speculation that the creator of the Cash app was killed in a random act of violence.
Silicon Valley mogul Elon Musk tweeted: Drawing out the district attorney’s denunciations, A “repeated violent offender” appeared to be responsible for the killings.
Momeni describes himself as an entrepreneur on his LinkedIn page. He claims to be the owner of a technology company called Expand IT Inc. and a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley.
However, a spokesperson for the University of California, Berkeley told NBC News on Friday that the university “has no record of graduation or attendance” for a person named Nima Momeni.
Mr. Lee worked as Chief Product Officer for the cryptocurrency company MobileCoin. He was previously Chief Technology Officer at Square (now known as Block), a financial technology company co-founded by former Twitter head Jack Dorsey.
He created Cash App, a popular money transfer service.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Lee also invested in Musk’s SpaceX venture and other technology companies, including social audio app Clubhouse.
