Microsoft makes it easy to view your photos in File Explorer. The latest Windows 11 developer preview released today includes a new feature, Gallery, that lets you view the Photos app’s picture library while browsing your files and folders.
Gallery view shortcut in File Explorer navigation panel comes to Windows Insiders Build 23435When you select Gallery, the main file browsing pane displays thumbnails of the same images as the All Photos view in the Photos app. According to Microsoft, if you have OneDrive camera roll backup enabled on your phone, it’s optimized to give you access to your most recent photos. They are displayed immediately above.
I also need to make it easy to find content from a particular folder. “You can select which folders you want to appear in the gallery from the Collections dropdown,” he said in a Microsoft announcement. “You can also add subfolders of existing sources to filter subsets of content, such as desktop backgrounds or SD card/camera imports.” Additionally, since the gallery appears as an option in the file selection dialog Attaching images to , emails, PowerPoint presentations, or social posts is easy.
According to Microsoft, this feature is rolling out gradually and may not be immediately available to all Dev Channel Insiders. Instead, the company will “monitor feedback and see how it plays out before rolling it out to everyone.” It’s still in beta and (in theory) could be put on the editorial floor if the company receives negative feedback or changes its policy.
