Nima Momeni, 38, a tech consultant who was arrested for the murder of Cash App creator Bob Lee, had previously appeared on suspicion of assault and assault, according to police records obtained by Insider.
A few months before Momeni was arrested on April 13, Emeryville police responded to a call from a woman who needed help and reported being “assaulted,” records show. Received a call on August 1, 2022 around 3pm
Records show that a person “grabbed,” “pulled,” and “physically pushed” the woman’s arm.
Police were dispatched to an address in Emeryville, connected to the office unit where Momeni’s company, ExpandIt, is headquartered.
Records show that Momeni was subsequently cited under PC 242, the California Penal Code for Assault and Assault, and released.
Alameda County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Angela Ruggiero told insiders in an email that no charges were filed in the case. But the incident was a misdemeanor, she said.
A spokesperson for the Emeryville Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Momeni clashed with police several times before being arrested in connection with Lee’s murder.
