Generation Z can channel fear, anxiety, technology, and purpose into entrepreneurial disruption.

Much has been written and observed about Gen Z when it comes to life and entrepreneurship. Some articles talk about lack of face-to-face communication skills. Others lack concentration. Additional articles and studies refer to high levels of anxiety and stress that appear to be associated with this generation. Is all hope lost for this generation? not so soon All this “noise” seems to remind this author of another generation who were told they were never a big deal, that their long hair and questioning authority and rules would lead to a life in vain. Well, that generation, the so-called baby boomers (teens in the 60’s and 70’s), did well. Let’s take a closer look at Gen Z’s current shortcomings and potential.

The iPhone came out in his 2007, when his oldest Gen Z was 10 years old. By the time they reached his teenage years, mobile devices, WIFI, and high-bandwidth cellular service were the primary means by which the young American connected to his web. Gen Z simply assumes social media, always-on connectivity, and on-demand entertainment and communication. I know they are very tech savvy.

That Gen Z struggles with core communication skills. A common link in the articles seems to be the early exposure to technology and social media and the current pandemic that is isolating and hindering Gen Z’s ability to communicate. And in college, Gen Z may not have the “soft skills” needed early in their careers. For example, how to negotiate, how to speak in public, how to network and how to resolve conflicts through communication skills. Either they have to learn these skills on the job, or employers recognize that Gen Z is gifted with hard skills but needs soft skills training to progress in their careers. It means that
In short, we have a growing generation of tech-savvy, Gen Z who need to cope with high levels of stress and anxiety, and improve their communication skills. Is it possible that this generation will become her one of the greatest generation of entrepreneurs of all time?
Here are some insights into why Gen Z can be deliberately disruptive and highly entrepreneurial.
Ambitious and goal-oriented. Early in life, Generation Z expresses concerns about several things, including the planet, food, and energy. They seem genuinely concerned and want to make a difference. This concern helps them form a purpose and, ultimately, forms a strong resolve about what they believe in and is not easily shaken. And the target is their North Star.
Restless and destructive. The restlessness they feel is directly related to uncertainty about the future of their job, career, purpose, planet, Ai, etc. they are very worried They also ask quite a few questions. They are now going through massive retirements, remote work, and big regrets as tech companies right-size. It is becoming clear to them that working for a big company will not bring them the satisfaction and purpose in life they crave.
Collecting expertise. Gen Z is working. They have accumulated even more practical experience and expertise. They are getting smarter about what work is. They are becoming more knowledgeable and less fearful. They are learning how to improve/break things using SasS, Ai, and other next-gen technologies in addition to the technologies they already know. In fact, deliberate technological disruption could be their future weapon.
Mature, but not loyal. Talk to a few adults in Gen Z between the ages of 25 and 30 and ask them about their current company loyalties. They may love what they do, but when the company’s goals don’t align with theirs, they just take their time, make money, travel, and do the next thing. just waiting for If they’ve been with the company for more than three years, that’s great.
