The automaker is updating the infotainment operating system on “certain models.” BMW’s operating system 8.5 brings “clearly arranged functions” to the home screen designed to work better on the company’s curved displays. It employs the “Zero Layer Principle”, which eliminates submenus and uses vertically positioned widgets on the driver’s side to keep all relevant controls and information on a single level. Additionally, it includes symbols for quick access to climate control menu, app library, navigation and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.
