Boris Johnson’s controversial resignation honorary list is likely to be investigated by a new House of Commons inquiry into the appointment of members of the House of Lords. I Have learned.

The probe could call Johnson and Dries to provide evidence about the former prime minister’s resignation.
This came after Mr Johnson and some of his admirers faced heavy criticism from senior Conservative Party officials.
Former Minister Tobias Ellwood tells Sean Bailey he will consider returning the title given to him by Mr Johnson after video footage of a lockdown party attended by an unsuccessful mayoral candidate sparked renewed outrage called to do so.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4, he said there were “big questions” about Mr Bailey’s title. today Show: “Frankly, he definitely needs to consider it.”
He said Rishi Sunak should “get a handle on” the issue of peerage, adding that “the prime minister cannot simply stuff the nobility with his friends.”
Ellwood added: “If anything is going on in this matter, I urge Mr. Sunak to draw a line under Boris Johnson’s tenure and his actual influence in Congress.”
“The Prime Minister now has an opportunity to set himself apart, continue the progress he has made, and further enhance his personality by directly addressing and confronting these issues.”
Mr Ellwood’s criticism came after House leader Penny Mordaunt suggested Mr Johnson had “degraded the honor system”.
Several aides embroiled in party allegations have been handed the gong of the controversial Honors List.
Former No. 10 Counselors Charlotte Owen and Ross Kempsel are promoted to aristocracy, making them the youngest and second-youngest aristocrats, while Conservative backward MPs Andrea Jenkins and Michael Fabricant was given the titles of duchess and knights.
Johnson’s title list caused an uproar, with former culture secretary Nadine Dries accusing Rishi Snak of stepping in to prevent her title. Even though she has announced that she will resign as MP “immediately”, she has since threatened to delay her resignation until she confirms all communications between officials regarding her own nomination.
Commission insiders said the scandal is likely to be included in PACAC’s investigation into aristocratic membership, including the appointment process and size, as well as the roles and responsibilities of aristocrats.
The committee will consider whether the rules governing appointments should be improved, and the role and powers of the House of Lords Appointments Commission (HOLAC), an independent review body that has been at the center of the Dries controversy.
A spokeswoman for the committee said: “Debate over reforming the House of Lords has been going on for decades.
“While the Commission agreed to proceed with this inquiry in March, the recent announcement of the resignations has made the inquiry more timely.”
