According to industry experts, less is more when it comes to crafting the perfect resume.
Former Google recruiter Nolan Church, now CEO of talent marketplace Continuum, says his biggest résumé fallacy is too many words and not enough context.

Instead, Church recommends “optimizing your resume for 10 seconds to watch” with short sentences that highlight the most important points. Doing so will allow HR to verify your credentials more quickly and move you through the hiring process.
Noticing that people often make mistakes when describing their day-to-day operations, Church notes that a brief, one-line bullet point under each title is sufficient. Short communication like Slack and email is deeply ingrained in office culture, so it’s important to get your point across quickly and clearly.

“If you can’t concisely describe what you’ve done in your career, how can you write concisely at work,” Church said.
He recommends tools ChatGPT and Grammarly for reducing words and consolidating descriptions. Plus, he suggests at least getting 5-10 people to review your resume and provide feedback. That way, the next time a recruiter sees your credentials, they’ll be fine-tuned.
