Battles between AI chatbots are more than just one-on-one combat. Anthropic, founded by several former OpenAI employees, claims its new Claude 3 language model outperforms his ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini on several key industry benchmarks. It can even reach “near-human” levels for some tasks, the company said. I wrote it on my blog.
There are three new chatbots under the Claude 3 umbrella, including Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus. The sonnet is Claude.ai chatbot It’s free when you sign in with your email. Opus, on the other hand, is the largest and most powerful LLM available for a $20 monthly subscription through the “Claude Pro” service. It’s also multimodal, so unlike past versions, it can handle both text and image input.
All Claude 3 models “can power live customer chat, autocomplete, and data extraction tasks that require immediate and real-time responses,” the company says. In addition to promising “nearly instantaneous results,” it is believed to be able to process longer, multi-step instructions with higher accuracy.
Opus demonstrated better graduate-level reasoning than GPT-4, scoring 14.7% higher than GPT-4 on that test. It also outperformed OpenAI chatbots in tasks involving math, coding, reasoning, and knowledge.
It even exceeds past Claude models. “For most workloads, Sonnet is 2x faster than Claude 2 and Claude 2.1, which have higher levels of intelligence. “Opus delivers similar speeds to Claude 2 and 2.1, but with a much higher level of intelligence,” Anthropic said.
Meanwhile, Haiku, the smallest version of Claude 3, is “the fastest and most cost-effective model on the market.” So he can read thick research papers with charts and graphs in less than 3 seconds.
The company also said Claude 3 “can handle a wide range of visual formats, including photos, charts, graphs, and technical diagrams,” helping businesses with PDFs, flowcharts, or presentation slides. A more nuanced understanding of requests also makes them less likely to reject innocuous content while still recognizing “actual harm.”
Anthropic says Claude AI is guided by the ten secret fundamental pillars of fairness. Claude 3 was trained on both private internal and public data using hardware from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud (Amazon recently invested his $4 billion in Anthropic). Ta.
Claude 3 Opus and Claude 3 Sonnet are currently available through Anthropic’s API, with Haiku expected to follow soon. Sonnet is also accessible through Amazon Bedrock and in private preview. Vertex AI Model Garden on Google Cloud.
