Several burger restaurants have been making headlines on social media for their recent price hikes, with popular chain Five Guys being the latest to come under fire.
The platform says images of customers’ receipts have gone viral on X, with more than 25.2 million views to date.

User @WallStreetSilv posted a message above a photo of a $24.10 single-serve receipt for an order of a $12.49 bacon cheeseburger and $5.19 small fries (drink and tax included) that read, “Five Guys prices are… It’s out of control,” he wrote.

“I think I was expecting about $12 to $15 per person at Five Guys,” the user wrote. “How much is the right amount these days?”
Viewers were shocked by the total amount and complained that the fast food chain’s prices were reaching “unattainable” highs.
One user said, “$5 for a small fry is highway robbery.” “It’s literally just potatoes and a little salt. It takes a quarter of the time to make.”
“This is why I don’t go to Five Guys anymore, not because I don’t have the money, but because at some point you have to draw the line,” said another.

Earlier this year, McDonald’s was criticized for price gouging, and rival chain Wendy’s revealed it was experimenting with a “dynamic” pricing model.
