YouTube star MrBeast is launching a competition show on Amazon Prime Video where 1,000 contestants will compete for a $5 million prize.
Amazon announced On Monday, the company announced that it would be bringing the “Beast Games” show, based on MrBeast’s YouTube show of the same name, to the streaming platform.
He said the $5 million would be “the largest single award in television and streaming history.”
Mr. Beast, real name Jimmy Donaldson Said“It’s going to be one hell of a show.” A release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but he said “more details will be revealed later this year.”
money doesn’t matter
He also told YouTube’s “The Colin and Samir Show” that the new contest “is like a regular video, only 20 times better.”
“There’s no money constraint on the show, so you can do anything you want. It’s a lot more freeing than you might think, and it’s surprising,” Donaldson added.
In a press release about the show on Amazon, Donaldson said, “My goal is to make the best show possible and to prove that YouTubers and creators can be successful on other platforms.” He added that Amazon gave him “creative control” to “try to make it happen.”
It’s unclear what effect the show will have on his YouTube followers. He is one of the highest paid creators on the video site and has around 240 million subscribers on his channel.
‘Be wise’
Donaldson recently offered some advice to those looking to follow in his footsteps.
He said it was “heartbreaking” to see people drop out of school or leave jobs prematurely to pursue careers as content creators. “Even if everyone like me succeeds, thousands will not. Keep that in mind and be wise,” he told X.
Donaldson did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.
