GOG, the CD Projekt-owned gaming storefront, is getting into cloud gaming. Partnered with Amazon Luna. Luna Cloud Service streams your games from Amazon’s cloud servers, allowing you to: access Titles purchased from the store can be selected across compatible devices you own, including PC, Mac, Android, iOS mobile devices, smart TVs, Fire tablets, and more. Just install the Luna app on your device and make sure you’re connected to the internet. You can also play the game using Luna compatible devices and controllers like Xbox One and PS4.
GOG said in the announcement that if you own games on Luna, you can play them on that platform. A subsidiary of CD Projekt, those titles include The Witcher series and cyberpunk 2077, but if you’re already using Amazon’s cloud streaming service, you can check to see if you can access other games. A Luna spokesperson said that at launch, GOG’s entire library will not be available on the Amazon service, but the selection will expand in the coming months.
Note that if you find a game you want to play within the Luna client, you don’t have to go to GOG to buy it first. Games purchased from Luna will also appear in his GOG library if the title is available on both services. If you purchase from Luna, your downloads will remain DRM-free and you’ll enjoy GOG Galaxy features like cloud saves and achievements.
The collaboration is not yet in full swing, and the companies have not yet announced when it will be available other than to say it will be available “soon.” However, access to Luna is limited to the regions where Luna is available: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
