When Jeff Bezos moves across the border from Seattle, he’s buying even more expensive real estate on a Miami-area island dedicated to Uber.
The billionaire Amazon founder bought his third home on Indian Creek Island for $90 million in an off-market deal. reported by bloomberg.
A representative for Mr. Bezos declined to comment.
Indian Creek is known as the “Millionaire’s Bunker” and is located on Biscayne Bay.
The exclusive island, with its own mayor and police, is home to fewer than 100 residents, including Ivanka Trump and Tom Brady, and is only accessible through a gated bridge.
According to Bloomberg, Bezos plans to live in the six-bedroom home, which was last sold for $2.5 million in 1998, while demolishing two other homes he previously purchased on the island.
Bezos first purchased a $68 million waterfront mansion in Indian Creek in August. A few months later, he sold another seven-bedroom mansion for $79 million.
Bezos announced his move to Miami in November, saying he wanted to be closer to his parents and Blue Origin’s Cape Canaveral operations.
Florida’s tax incentives (one of eight states without a capital gains tax) may have played a role.
Business Insider’s Madeline Berg and Katherine Long previously reported that Bezos is leaving Seattle with eight properties worth a combined $190 million, based on Zillow estimates.
Bezos is the second richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His vast real estate empire also includes two adjacent Beverly Hills mansions, a Texas ranch, and his $500 million superyacht called Col.
And this billionaire is used to buying properties in multiple neighborhoods. Mr. Bezos did something similar at his former mansion in the Hunts Point enclave outside Seattle, using part of the house for security and staff.
