A new video claims to show Ukrainian soldiers stealing a state-of-the-art Russian tank and driving away.
A nighttime video shared by the 12th Azov Assault Brigade shows soldiers approaching the vehicle and then driving away. According to the brigade, soldiers captured a T-72B3M tank and brought it back to their camp.
It is not clear whether there were Russian soldiers inside the tank when it was captured, according to reports.

Footage released shows a convoy of Russian vehicles moving through a field and being attacked by Ukrainian drones and weapons. The T-72B3M appears to have been part of that column.
The brigade also shared footage of soldiers standing next to a tank, apparently after capturing it. The tank was recovered near the village of Terny in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region, the statement said.
ukrainian army Said The brigade captured the T-72B3M, which was first used in 2017. The brigade said the vehicle was upgraded with “a combination of several electronic warfare systems” designed to protect against Ukrainian drones.
However, drone operators from Ukraine’s 60th Mechanized Brigade announced that they were able to attack the tank using a drone “equipped with a preconfigured autonomous guidance system.”
“The captured tanks are currently working for the defense of Ukraine and are contributing to the military’s defeat of the invaders,” it added.
Despite Ukraine’s claims of success, the fact that this Russian electronic warfare system is being used on the front lines could cause major headaches for Ukraine.
As Business Insider’s Nathan Reynolds previously reported, the two countries are in a race to outdo each other in drones and jamming systems.
The 12th Azov Assault Brigade said the capture of the tank was part of a broader victory against the Russian offensive.
Azov soldiers, along with other Ukrainian brigades, announced that they had received information that a Russian armored column was on the move.
It was announced that 50 Russian soldiers were killed and others fled, abandoning their equipment. Russia also said it had lost 11 pieces of equipment, but did not provide further details.
Weapons trackers and experts say Russia has lost far more tanks than Ukraine in the conflict.
The International Institute for Strategic Studies announced in February that Russia has lost more than 3,000 vehicles since it began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
However, the report said Russia would likely be able to maintain supplies for two to three years by taking old tanks out of storage and producing new ones.
Ukrainian soldiers are also using tanks captured or abandoned by the Russian military. This includes the Ukrainian military, which used T-80 tanks captured from Russia’s elite armored forces during the battle for the eastern city of Bakhmut last year.
War analysts say Russia has increased the size and number of mechanized attacks in recent days and may be aiming to penetrate Ukraine’s defenses before further aid from the West arrives. .
Ukraine is severely lacking in artillery and ammunition, making it difficult to attack Russia and hold positions.
Ukraine was also able to thwart a major mechanized attack last month, a sign that the Ukrainian military can still make significant advances on the battlefield if it is “properly equipped,” war analysts said. Ta.
