Many of the best pizza ovens available today, whether designed for indoor or outdoor use, can only cook 13-inch pies. This is perfect for most situations, especially if you want to host a party where everyone can choose their toppings. However, you may need more space for a large pizza or for baking or roasting other foods. Ooni is filling that void with its latest model. coda 2 max, which is the company’s largest pizza oven to date. The 24-inch gas-fired unit can bake up to 20-inch pizzas while delivering the high-heat cooking quality that Ooni ovens are known for.
In addition to being the largest option in Ooni’s lineup, the Koda 2 Max has several additional features that make it an upgrade over the company’s other models. First, it offers dual-zone cooking with independent controls for both burners. This allows you to cook two things at different temperatures at the same time, or to have a hot and cold side of the oven if needed. To facilitate this, Ooni placed two burners on the side of the Koda 2 Max, rather than one in the back of the oven. The company says its G2 gas technology includes a burner with a tapered flame for more efficient heat distribution and more stable cooking stone temperatures.
Another update is the front-mounted color digital temperature display. This isn’t the first time an Ooni oven has displayed its internal temperature, but it’s the first time it’s shown in color, and the first time it’s sent its stats to your phone. The Koda 2 Max retains the overall look of previous gas-burning Koda products, including folding legs for transportation. It also connects to a propane tank like previous models, offering hassle-free cooking without the need to manage a fire when making pizza or other dishes.
The Ooni Koda 2 Max will be available in May for $999, making it the most expensive outdoor-only option in the company’s pizza oven series. The all-electric Volt was the same price when it was released, but the price has now gone down. for $899. If you can skip all the flashy new features and extra cooking space, the Koda 16 ($599) and Koda 12 ($399), as the name suggests, bakes 16-inch and 12-inch pizzas for hundreds of dollars less.
