OpenAI and Reddit announced a partnership Thursday that will allow OpenAI to surface Reddit’s discussions on ChatGPT and allow Reddit to offer AI-powered features to its users. The partnership will “enable OpenAI’s tools to better understand and showcase Reddit’s content, especially recent topics,” the companies said in a written statement. . As part of the deal, OpenAI will also become Reddit’s advertising partner and will run ads on the platform.
The deal is similar to one Reddit announced in February. Worth $60 million. A Reddit spokesperson declined to disclose the terms of the agreement with OpenAI to Engadget, and OpenAI did not respond to a request for comment.

Last year, we worked with German publisher Axel Springer to train a model on news. politiko and business insider with the US built and die welt into German.
Under the new arrangement, OpenAI will have access to Reddit’s Data API, which the company says will provide “proprietary structured content from Reddit in real time.” It’s unclear what AI-powered features Reddit will build into its platform as a result of this partnership. Access to Reddit’s data, a rich source of real-time, human-generated and often high-quality information, became controversial after the company announced last year that it would start charging developers to use its API. It became a problem. As a result, dozens of third-party Reddit clients were forced and thousands of subreddits went dark in protest. At the time, Reddit stood its ground, with major AI companies scraping Reddit data for free. Since then, Reddit has been monetizing data by entering into such agreements with his Google and his OpenAI, and progress in training AI models depends on having access to the data.
