The Apple Vision Pro was primarily marketed as a productivity machine, but as anyone who actively uses VR can tell you, the device’s selling point is its games. While Apple’s headset gives you access to hundreds of games, most of them are just simplified ports of an iPad that appear as a virtual screen in your field of vision. But that’s starting to change.
Developer Owlchemy Labs is releasing two of its flagship titles: Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator, Now available for Apple Vision ProThese aren’t iPad ports. Both games are fully immersive VR experiences optimized for Apple’s headset, meaning the controls are mapped to hand-eye tracking. AVP doesn’t have a dedicated controller, so some existing VR games will undoubtedly break, but these two should work just fine.
For beginners, Job Simulator One of the first “must have” titles in the VR space, this hilarious take on corporate culture sees players designing cubicles, brewing coffee, and taking part in all sorts of shenanigans. Vacation Simulator The antics extend to leisure activities as well, with colorful beachside locations, picturesque hikes, and of course knitting. Players can also relax in fake hot tubs, splash around in fake oceans, and do fake yoga.
Job Simulator It costs $20, Vacation Simulator It’s priced at $30, the same price as competing platforms like the Meta Quest Store and Steam, and the nice thing is that there’s no Apple Vision Pro tax on top of the initial $3,500.
Interestingly, developer Owlchemy Labs is actually owned by Google, and isn’t all that interested in the VR race. As for the Apple Vision Pro, games and unique experiences are starting to appear. Marvel If…? Tabletop RPG to be released on May 30th DeMeo It debuted on the platform earlier this week, and since sales numbers for the headset are anything but stellar, it will be interesting to see if this discourages companies from developing software for the platform.
