apple The company said on Wednesday it plans to open its first store in Malaysia next month, underscoring its expansion into Asia beyond China.
The store will open inside The Exchange TRX Mall in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur.
According to Apple, it is scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on June 22nd.
The move to open a store in Malaysia continues Apple’s efforts to grow sales in Asia outside China, where it has struggled recently due to growing competition, particularly from local companies such as Huawei.
Apple last year opened its first store in India, a major manufacturing base for iPhones and a market the Cupertino giant hopes will be a big sales driver in the future.
Apple doesn’t make iPhones in Malaysia, but it does manufacture some Mac models locally.
Apple already has stores in other parts of Asia, including Singapore and Thailand.
Across much of Southeast Asia, Apple is battling Chinese companies such as: Millet And then there’s Oppo, and its biggest rival, Samsung.
