South Korean authorities are investigating tech giant Samsung after determining that two workers at its factory were exposed to radiation.
The South Korean Nuclear Safety Commission said in a Google-translated statement on Wednesday that two hospitalized patients had “abnormal” symptoms of radiation exposure in their fingers.
Officials said the patient’s routine blood tests came back normal.
CNBC reached out to Samsung but was not immediately able to comment.
The accident, which could have led to radiation exposure, occurred at Samsung’s Giheung factory, about 25 miles south of the South Korean capital, Seoul.
Authorities announced that the machine responsible for the accident has been taken out of service. The exact cause of the radiation exposure is currently unknown and is being investigated by the Nuclear Safety Commission.
The commission said it would take further action if any violations of safety laws were identified.
