new There’s a limited-time sale running on Amazon right now where you can get the OverHear headphones and two years of AppleCare+ for $80 off. The Solo 4 headphones were just released in April of this year, and normally cost around $230 with an AppleCare+ bundle. They’re currently discounted by 34 percent, so they’re just $150. This sale applies to all three colors of the Solo 4: Cloud Pink, Matte Black, and Slate Blue.
The Beats Solo 4 headphones are a huge improvement under the hood compared to their predecessor, but they still have the same familiar design on the outside. They claim to have around 50 hours of battery life on a single charge with Spatial Audio off, and 45 hours with it on, but with Spatial Audio on you can get a much longer 63 hours. Sound quality has also improved significantly. According to Engadget’s Billy Steele, the Solo 4 headphones reflect “more even tuning” and no longer suffer from “the overly bass-heavy EQ that dominated the previous sound.” [Beats’] “Early headphones.”
With the Solo 4, Beats has followed Apple’s lead and switched to a USB-C charging port. A wired connection allows for lossless audio. These headphones don’t have active noise cancellation, but Beats has implemented a noise-learning algorithm and added a beamforming MEMS microphone that improves call quality.
The Beats Solo 4 isn’t the only headphone on sale right now. Amazon also has Beats Studio Pro (No AppleCare+) This model is nearly half price, slashed from the usual $350 price to just $180.
