David Plumtree is stepping down as chief executive of Connells Group, the estate agency, and will leave the company at the end of June after more than 35 years with the company.
A well-known figure in the industry, Plumtree began his career with the Group as a Negotiator at William H Brown’s Fakenham branch in 1988. As his career progressed he held several successful senior roles and since 2005 has headed up the Group’s Real Estate Agency business.
“After 35 years, I feel now is the right time for me to step down,” Mr Plumtree said. “I’ve been fortunate to have worked with some fantastic people at Connells and I leave the business confident that my drive to continue to drive the business forward is as strong as ever and I look forward to seeing how the group evolves in the future.”
Connells Group interim CEO Richard Twigg said: “On behalf of the Connells Group board, I would like to thank David for his significant contribution to the Group. He has played a key role in growing the Group into one of the UK’s leading estate agents and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Mr Twigg added: “I am pleased to announce that Ian Fry has been appointed group chief executive officer (estate agents) with immediate effect.”
“Ian has been with us for 28 years and also started his career as a branch negotiator. He has already played a key role in our success story, having held many roles and achieved great success at all levels within the business. I look forward to working directly with Ian as we develop the business and continue to be a leading player in UK estate agents.”
