The Soundcore Space A40 is our pick, and this model has now dropped to its lowest price ever, making it an even more attractive proposition. They’re just $40 now, and the earbuds normally cost $80, so you save $31.
Our favorite budget earphones have just dropped to their lowest price ever, making them even more appealing.
I already felt the Space A40 was a great value, as it comes with features found in earphones twice the price, but these are a real bargain. The earphones are lightweight and I found them comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They don’t sound as detailed as higher-end options, but that’s to be expected. They offer an overall warm sound profile with decent performance in the bass range.
If you want more emphasis on bass or treble, you can adjust the EQ settings in the Soundcore app. You can also customize the touch controls from the app.
In terms of durability, the earphones are IPX4 waterproof, which is enough to protect them from everyday sweat and light rain. They can be connected to two devices simultaneously and each earphone can be used separately. Battery life is not bad either, with the earphones lasting about 8 hours before you put them back in the charging case (they support wireless charging, which can give the earphones another 40 hours or so of playtime).
The best feature of the Space A40 is the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). It performs well for earphones in this price range. It has Adaptive ANC technology that adjusts the strength of noise cancellation depending on the surroundings, but it can’t block out treble sounds completely. You can also manually adjust the ANC level. There is also a Transparency mode, which is quite good.
You can make calls with these earbuds, but the microphone quality isn’t great, and it’s a shame they don’t automatically pause when you take them out. Still, these are relatively minor gripes as these are otherwise great value earbuds.
